What is Book Club?
It was launched in 2006 to provide a relaxed place for people to discuss books each month, meet others and share ideas.
Who is it for?
Anyone who can read! We read a really wide variety of books to suit all tastes and end up reading things we’ve always wanted to read through to things we never thought we’d ever pick up. You’re welcome to come along to chat even if you haven’t finished the book, or started it!
What goes on?
We meet monthly to discuss the chosen book for that month. We’re pretty relaxed and informal. We have members who come every month and others who come when they can. On an average week we have about 15-20 people. New members are always welcome and most months we have new people joining us.
There is always a broad mix of ages and a we have a good mix of men and women.
We also have 'Big Book Club' which runs every three months on the fourth Thursday of that month, This is where we get the chance to read bigger books that we can't get through in the 'normal' Book Club.
As well as the monthly book club we also have trips to see films or theatre productions. Periodically we have 'Pub Club' and 'Film Club' which all are welcome to.
When and Where does it happen?
Book Club meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Curzon (16 George Street, Sheffield, GB S1 2PF) 7.45pm-9.15pm.
